Meet Kate Upton.
I’m Kate, Legal Intern at Z Family Law. I’m currently pursuing a B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Law and Justice at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where I’m part of the Class of 2027. I’ve always known I wanted to be a lawyer; my mom and grandfather are both family law attorneys, and their influence inspired me to explore the legal field from a young age.
So far, I’ve interned with a criminal law firm and at the Circuit Courthouse, gaining experience in different types of law and the administrative side of the court system. Family law is an area I hadn’t worked in yet, and when the opportunity to join Z Family Law came up, it felt like a perfect fit. I’ve known Christy since I was around six or seven years old, and getting to work with her and the ZFL team has been such a positive experience. The office environment is welcoming and supportive, and I’ve loved having the chance to take on new challenges and grow my skills.
When I’m not at work or in class, I’m busy competing on my school’s mock trial team, reading, or crocheting, my favorite way to unwind and get creative.
