‘’I draw on my experience from twenty years of practice so I can be a real problem solver for my clients.’’

Meet Carlie Bloxom.

With more than 17 years of legal experience, I’ve had the opportunity to serve in a variety of roles, but what keeps me grounded in family law is my passion for child advocacy. When I first entered the field, I was drawn to the idea of being a voice for children during some of the most challenging moments of their lives. Over time, I came to realize just how many different ways family law allows us to shape healthier outcomes, not only for children, but for entire families. Whether it's through strategic legal planning or simply listening with empathy, I strive to help create the best possible path forward for my clients.

Joining Z Family Law felt like a full-circle moment in my career. Christy Zlatkus has long been someone I admire. She’s a talented attorney, a strong leader, and a champion for growth and collaboration. Over the years, we’ve learned a great deal from each other, and I’ve always enjoyed working with her. At ZFL, I’ve found a team that’s professional, kind, and razor-sharp. The culture here is one of mutual respect and shared purpose, and that energy makes doing this important work even more rewarding.

I earned my B.A. in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland in 2004 and my J.D. from Loyola University of New Orleans School of Law in 2007. I’ve been a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association for over a decade, and I’m admitted to practice in both Maryland and Louisiana. Over the years, I’ve been honored to receive recognition for my work as a Drug Treatment Court prosecutor in Wicomico County and for my contributions to the Pro Se Clinic in Caroline County, two roles that deeply shaped my understanding of justice and service.

On a personal note, I’ve lived my own version of a “new beginning”. As a recent divorcee and a mother, I know firsthand how transformative it can be to choose a new path, not just for yourself, but for your children. Prioritizing your happiness, your peace, and your future isn’t easy, but it’s one of the most empowering decisions you can make. That experience has only deepened my commitment to walking alongside our clients as they navigate their own new beginnings.

When I’m not practicing law, I enjoy traveling, getting lost in a good book, and filling my home with music. Dancing with performance groups in New Orleans has brought me so much joy over the years, and I also enjoy needlework like embroidery and cross-stitch—it’s a peaceful way to connect with tradition and creativity.
