AttorneyHaley Magwood, Esquire

‘’I have always been drawn to family law as it sits at the intersection of law, humanity, and healing.’’

Meet Haley Magwood.

I have always been drawn to family law as it sits at the intersection of law, humanity, and healing. With a background in trial advocacy, trauma-informed lawyering, and human development, I bring a unique blend of experience to every client matter. I have seen the full spectrum of what families go through as a former judicial law clerk and criminal prosecutor. I am deeply committed to helping people move from crisis to clarity.

For the last couple of years, I have gained early-career command of the courtroom. I began my legal career clerking for Family Division Magistrate Jennifer K. Williams in the Baltimore City Circuit Court, where I worked on a Title IV-D child support docket. Thereafter, I went on to serve for nearly two years as a domestic violence prosecutor in both Baltimore City and Washington, D.C. While I have always had a passion for litigation, a mentor once told me, “To be the best lawyer in family law, you need to have the historical knowledge about what challenges and supports families...knowing the law is not enough…it is what you know about people.” That wisdom has remained with me and has led me to understand how my advocacy influences a healthy-growing family.

With a unique blend of lived, academic, and legal experience, I am dedicated to helping families move through tough transitions with dignity and hope. I believe in listening deeply, advocating fiercely, and helping each client define what a healthy, empowered future looks like for them—and then walking alongside them to get there.

Now, at Z Family Law, I am proud to be part of a team that is client-centered, team-oriented, trauma-informed, and importantly, full of energy and compassion. I love that ZFL offers a holistic approach to legal support, with both in-house and community resources that meet the complex needs of our clients.

When I am not working, you can usually find me singing, writing music, or attending music concerts and family jam sessions. I also love being outside in my garden, spending time with my family and pets, and soaking in the small joys that come with everyday life.
